Through an engaging, gamified learning experience, students blend economic concepts with investing topics to learn how the government, corporations, and individuals come together to participate in the financial marketplace. Recommended Grade Level: 9-12 Total Lessons: 5 (10-20 minutes each) Learn More: https://everfi.com/courses/k-12/investment-education-high-school/ Lesson 1: Marketplaces - Students learn what a financial market is and how their own lives are impacted by the global financial market. They also explore the history of the markets and how stock exchanges have transformed over time. Acting as brokers, students attempt to predict how various industries are impacted by current events. Lesson 2: The Economy - Students explore the economy’s impact on the world and everyone’s daily lives. They also come to understand the economic indicators that are used to measure the economy and how the central bank uses policies to regulate it. Students get the change to predict how individuals and businesses will behave in different economic climates. Lesson 3: Startup to IPO - Students learn the different financing options for growing companies. They are then challenged to take on the role of a consultant for a startup company tasked with making recommendations to help acquire financing and eventually going public through the IPO process. Lesson 4: Keys to Investing - Students explore different types of financial assets and how to use asset allocation and diversification to balance risk and reward. They get the opportunity to meet with a financial advisor to discover how investing can help them achieve their long-term goals and apply what they have learned by taking on the role of an advisor to determine the best asset allocation for each client portfolio. Lesson 5: Investment Game - The game challenges students to apply what they’ve learned throughout the course to make smart investment decisions as they address financial situations.
