I've already explained how to set up a grid on your reference photo (see Part 1, above). A grid is basically a series of lines that act as references for your drawing. They're especially helpful for portraits or very large pieces. I use a 4H pencil to draw out my grid. This insures that my lines will either blend into my drawing, or be easy to erase later on.
