Thanks for clicking. You are learning English with engVid. In today's lesson, I am going to help you practice your listening comprehension skills. In this video, you will hear two dialogues. At the end of each dialogue, I will ask you four questions, so listen carefully to make sure you answer them correctly. After I ask you the questions, I will also give you the answers immediately so you know if you got the correct answer. I recommend that you rewind and pause the video as needed. The difficulty level of these listenings is intermediate, so you can test yourself and see where your skill level is at. So, are you ready to practice your listening? Let's start with the first dialogue. [Phone ringing] No, unfortunately, I'd prefer an afternoon appointment. Okay, let me see here. Oh, we actually have a place next Thursday at 2 p.m. That would be much better. Thank you. Not a problem. I've added you to the calendar for next Thursday at 2 p.m. Is there anything else? Actually, yes. Our son is turning 18, and he's going to need to transition away from his pediatric dentist. I was wondering if your office had room for a new patient. That's a better question for our regular receptionist. I'm just filling in this week. The regular receptionist will be back next week, so you could ask her in person when you come for your cleaning. Oh, okay. That makes sense. Is there anything else? No, thank you. That's everything. Great. So, we'll see you next week. Yeah, perfect. Bye for now. Bye-bye. And now the questions. Let's see what you heard. Question number one. What kind of clinic is Derek calling? I will give you a few seconds to answer. Okay. If you were paying attention, you may have heard or you will have heard he is calling a dental clinic. Number two. Would Derek prefer a morning, afternoon, or evening appointment? He would prefer an afternoon appointment. Number three. Why does Derek's son need a new dentist?
