I want to talk to you a little bit about making color adjustments to images. Now, before you can really adjust or manipulated an image you first need to understand a little bit about the process. When using raw file formats or images displayed on screen we're generally talking about images that are made up of red green and blue. However, if we're talking about images that are destined for ink production as in commercial printing we're talking about inks that use a cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Now before leaping into editing software I actually think it's first important to understand a little bit about the colors themselves and how they interact with each other before you can really start to make adjustments. In this tutorial, I start off by showing you a graph displaying the primary colors (Red, Green & Blue) and their opposite secondary colors (Cyan, Magenta & Yellow). When editing photos, we manipulate these colors on raw files (or RGB files) in image editing software like Photoshop. Therefore, an understanding the colors and their opposites is a very important part of the process.
