Scheduling Objective is the Quality of Service (QoS) requirement for a process in order to guarantee performance. A major task of an operating system is to manage a collection of processes. Some important scheduling objectives are as follows: 1. Maximize CPU utilization 2. Maximize utilization of other resources 3. Maximize Throughput = number of jobs completed per unit time. 4. Minimize waiting time = total time a job spends waiting for the resource to be available. 5. Minimize turnaround time = waiting time + computation time + I/O time 6. Minimize response time = time from entry of command until first output starts to appear 7. Fairness: All comparable jobs should be treated equally.
