Check out the full electricity & magnetism playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSQl0a2vh4HAtw9UfXpWWFRfheZYwHptr Coulomb's law mathematically describes the electrostatic force two charged particles exert on each other. The force is equal to the Coulomb constant, multiplied by the two charges, divided by the distance between their centers squared. It is an inverse square law. Like charges repel and opposite charges attract. Contact forces such as tension and friction are fundamentally the result of electric forces between charged particles. Sections: 00:00 - Intro 00:57 - The electrostatic force 02:57 - The unit of charge 03:54 - Charge vs mass 04:57 - Understanding Coulomb's law 07:27 - Value of Coulomb's constant 08:36 - Comparing Newton's law of gravitation and Coulomb's law 09:54 - Electrostatic forces result in contact forces ------------------ Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. Khan Academy has been translated into dozens of languages, and 15 million people around the globe learn on Khan Academy every month. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we would love your help!
