Alternating Series are sseries that alternate between positive and negative terms. In this case the fact that there are positive and negative terms gives a sort of "cancellation" that makes the series smaller, and thus more likely to converge. Indeed, we have an Alternating Series Test which gives conditions that imply certain types of Alternating Series converge. This turns out to be very nice because the conditions are easy to check.
