Most common mistakes to avoid in Excel. 👉 Excel for Business & Finance Course: https://www.careerprinciples.com/courses/excel-for-business-finance 🆓 DOWNLOAD Free Excel file for this video: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/62daad2787802ab6bcaf5ed4 In this video we go over 8 of the most common mistakes to avoid on Excel. These are: 1. Error values: It's very common to have error values just as DIV/0! which make it seem like the file data is wrong. You can avoid this by using the IFERROR function. 2. Hiding Cells: hiding cells just makes it very hard for others to see. Instead, you should group cells. 3. Static Text: When possible, try to link text, this way everything is dynamic and there's less of a chance for you to forget. 4. Hardcoding Numbers: This is important so formulas remain dynamic, and you avoid errors. 5. Merge & Center: While this is sometimes useful, when used inside a dataset it makes it hard to do calculations. Instead you should "centre across selection" 6. NOT Protecting Cells: This is important so people don't put wrong data in the excel file. To protect cells, use the data validation feature. 7. NOT Protecting Sheets: This is important so people don't break complex Excel models. To protect sheets, use the protect sheets feature. 8. Filtering Errors. It's common to have errors when copy and pasting filtered data, as it hides rows. Instead, you're better off pasting the data in a new sheet or below the filtered table.
