While some don't pay at all.  Companies reward their shareholders through bonuses and dividends. What does it mean to pay a dividend of 80%? Dividends are determined based on the share's par value/face value. The par value/face value of a share in Pakistan is Rs.10, according to the Companies Ordinances of 1984. When a firm pays an 80 percent cash dividend, it means the dividend is equivalent to 80 percent of the face value, i.e. 10 equals Rs. 8. A company's failure to pay out does not make it a bad one. However, it does imply that the organization is reinvesting in future ventures. Take, for example, Google. Google does not pay dividends to its shareholders.
